Finding the right fit
Well, when you know it's your time to quit, it is time to quit. You don't really need to flog a dead horse to know when something is not what you really want to do or drives any interest or passion in you to continue working on it.
It could be that the work or the environment is not a good fit, or you don't get along that well with that many people in the work place. When you have tried your best, and the dynamics of the situation doesn't change, perhaps a change of scene is the last option that one should take.
I was listening to Joyce Meyer teaching on Living Courageously and Have a Dream and it was very encouraging to my spirit.
Ecclesiastes 5:3 For a dream comes with much business and painful effort, and a fool’s voice with many words.
It was helpful listening to Meyer as she illustrates her point by the example of 'much business and painful effort' by the endeavour of trying different types of outfit till they fit.
It can't be too big, too small, too scratchy, too tight, and should be the right size and right fit. But we won't know it until we have tried a few outfits of different sizes or colours until we find the right one.
From gardening, to working in a nursery, sewing, learning the guitar, all which she realises she has no interest in except finally when she goes into teaching, preaching and writing books.
We slog each day, say going to work, and if we are not driven by any interest of what we do, it will be a very long day indeed.
What then is a dream? It is not limited to just to going to work, but maybe it is as simple as settling down, or to lose ten kgs. Or just staying out of debt, or saving for your first home.
For any dream to come to pass, it requires us to come up with a vision, a plan, hard work and lots of pain, and also believing in the miracle that you can achieve it.
Genesis 15:5 And He brought him outside [his tent into the starlight] and said, Look now toward the heavens and count the stars—if you are able to number them. Then He said to him, So shall your descendants be.
Having said that, I am praying that tomorrow's entrepreneurs' convention would enlarge my field of vision and provide some inspiration in this new season of life.
