Day 14- Post Blackie's death

Day 14- I emboldened myself and took a spade. Then I removed the towel from covering Blackie's burial site.

His body is covered by a layer of soil, which I can only find if prodded with a spade.

His body size had deflated now, and his body also feels hard when I prodded it with the spade. This caused the soil in the area to sink further down and back to the normal level as it was previously. 

 There was no longer any smell or odour coming out from the burial spot.

So I adjusted the soil covering his body, and placed rocks covering the side. I then replaced the syrofoam covering the area to just keep it dry from rain and secured it with a heavy rock. 

I believe that the snails will be back in action here now that the white towel is removed, and most probably to hide from the sun during the day.

Then I took the white towel and dumped it in a pail of water, to try to get as much soil out from it.

Then I left the towel to dry in the sun. 

I decided to not soak it in detergent at this time, as I was thinking to get the sun to at least sterilize the towel for a bit before soaking it in detergent later.

As for me: 

I now feel better and at ease with this step as there is no longer any odour coming out. It was covered by the soil, as well as the white towel which filtered most of the gases in the first 14 days of his burial process. 

I will continue to check on the site from time to time as needed. But Blackie's body and mind is now at rest, lying next to Thor.
