Guangzhou: (Day 2) Beijing Road

After our trip to the Cantonese Opera Museum, we took the Metro back to the hotel to have a rest. By this time, I have already walked 15,000 steps.

So my feet were sore.

In the evening, we headed out around 18:00 to take the Line 1. We stopped and got off to go to Beijing Road

So apparently this is the infamous 1000 year old monastery that is smack right in the middle of Beijing Road.

Called the 大佛寺 or Dafo temple in English.

As we entered the shopping area, I see local city guards on patrol at the entrance of the avenue.

Beijing Road has a huge and long pedestrian walking street for high end shopping. There were 3 gold and jewellery houses when I counted.

On this road are many high end clothing and merchandise retailer. Get ready to spend big if you want to get anything from here!

This is the showcase of the streets from the Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasty under the current roads protected by glass cases.

As you reach the end of Beijing Road, you will see a miniature site of the Millennium Ancient Road at the end of Beijing Road.

It shows the ancient gates and roads from at least 1000 years ago.

You do realise Guangzhou is part of China, a very old civilization with a very long history ?

To end, we found this place for dinner. Just claypot chicken with capsicum and rice at one of the shops. Dinner came up to 51 yuan for two.

Then we went back to the hotel again after a very long day.

Would you make a trip to Beijing Road just to check out the monastery?
